Postdoctoral Research Scholar
The Neurocognition, Early Experience, and Development (NEED) Lab, directed by Dr. Kimberly Noble, is seeking a postdoctoral research scholar beginning in June 2022. This individual will work on multiple NIH-funded studies on early childhood cognitive, emotional, and brain development, and will have the opportunity to pursue independent lines of research.
The NEED Lab at Teachers College, Columbia University studies how children’s early environments and experiences affect how they learn and grow. We are particularly interested in understanding how socioeconomic inequality and other family contexts influence brain and cognitive development throughout childhood.
Responsibilities of the postdoctoral position will include:

Analyzing data from multiple NIH-funded longitudinal studies of early childhood development (0-4 years), including cognitive, physiological, and EEG data

Supervising data monitoring, cleaning, and quality control

Supervising and mentoring a team of doctoral students, masters students, and undergraduate RAs

Developing their own, independent research questions

Writing papers and grants
The ideal postdoctoral candidate will:

Have PhD in psychology, child development, neuroscience, or a related field within the past 5 years.

Have exceptionally strong quantitative and statistical research skills.

Be extremely detail-oriented, adept at multi-tasking and have strong organizational skills

Have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

Have experience analyzing early childhood assessments

Experience in programming and managing data in REDCap
-
Have experience in collecting and analyzing EEG data (EEGLAB a plus)
-
Be able to commit at least two years to the position

Be passionate about the lab’s research mission
Spanish is fluency a plus, but not required.
